China contract traps — what actually goes wrong

Not a summary of Chinese labour law. 16 specific ways foreign teachers report being caught out, each one backed by real posts you can read yourself. Most of this does not sit in the contract text — it is in how the job actually plays out.

How this is built (and its limits). Every case below is a real post, hand-read and verified to exist in a corpus of 71,972 harvested discussions. We do not publish percentages: we tested automated classification against a sample and it was roughly 25% precise, so any "X% of teachers" figure would be junk. Read this as a map of what kinds of trouble exist — not as odds. Self-selected sample; people post problems more than smooth experiences. Not legal advice.
